Some May/June beetles (Phyllophaga sp.) emerging over the weekend. There are a bunch of species in this group, but I only occasionally see the larvae in well maintained turf in this part of the country. Does anybody still consider them a pest of turf?

Tropical storms are the big drivers of fall armyworm movement into our region. Here’s a summary of tropical storm activity so far this season. Beryl was our biggest risk to date, but infestations following that storm appear to be spotty and low intensity.

Visited two golf courses with ABW damage in Dayton and Cincinnati area early this week. Noticed weevils crawling on the surface, and found more late stage larvae and pupae, probably the 3rd generation. Drought may lower the damage tolerance and make the situation more severe.
