A rare tweet from me but #SuperSaturday is a huge deal. Get vaccinated tomorrow or, if you already have been, encourage whanau or friends to. Shot Aotearoa.

Here is a press release on NZ's current ICU bed capacity from ANZICS. The numbers reflect the reality on the ground (we have just over 170 staffed adult ICU beds). These are numbers NZ experts in intensive care medicine agree on @AndrewLittleMP anzics.com.au/wp-content/upl…

We should be counting down the unvaccinated rather than counting up. 500,000 unvaccinated is way more relevant than the number of vaccinated. Put the spotlight on the people society doesn’t usually see. Find them. Help them get vaccinated! newshub.co.nz/home/new-zeala…

"According to an estimate published recently in the journal Pediatrics, at least 140,000 American children had lost a parent or caregiver because of the coronavirus..." Please get vaccinated. If not for yourself (and you do matter), then for the people who love you and need you.

UK deaths per million: 2,249. NZ deaths per million: 10. UK total deaths: 153,916. If the UK had NZ’s Covid death rate, their total deaths would be 684 -- yes, under 1,000 -- not 153,916. I don’t see how the UK can tell anyone how to “live with Covid” when so many are dead.

Fantastic article that brings historical perspective to Covid-19, going the way of previous pandemics: “The developed world is repeating its mistakes again, and this will have devastating consequences for billions of people.”theatlantic.com/health/archive…

Facing a potential measles epidemic this is an insightful piece from Dr Suitafa Debbie Ryan. “It seems for every new infectious disease outbreak we have to relearn these lessons and develop workarounds for systems that are designed for majority populations e-tangata.co.nz/comment-and-an…
