Today marks 65 years since the inimitable Prince Rogers Nelson was introduced on Earth. I have decided to honor him through an A-Z Princerversaries list, showcasing 74 wonderful songs. (I know A-Z is only 26 letters, but it was too hard to pick just one song for each letter.)

So thankful for Darling Nisi & all she does for those who can’t make it to events such as Celebration. She really goes above & beyond, even though she doesn’t have to, to make sure we know what’s happening. Thank u for documenting like u do.💜 she’s the best. That’s all. #Prince

Today is the day that "When Doves Cry" dropped as a single and changed not only Prince's life, but music itself. But I have some other music geekery thoughts a well... 🧵

Fully off the top of my head and in no particular order… 1. It’s Gonna Be Lonely 2. Scandalous 3. Power Fantastic (last-minute replacement for Dark)

Never thought of the '80s/post-'80s debate this way and it's super thought-provoking... also true to my experience, as my way into post-88 Prince was mostly through individual tracks grabbing me (and I'm also just old enough to be primarily wired as an album listener)

Crazy. Just noticed that on the same page as the The Minnesota Star Tribune recap of Prince's historic 8/3/83 gig at First Avenue, an ad ran for Guys and Dolls—featuring the exact backdrop that Prince would borrow from the ChanhassenDT 4 years later for the cover of Sign O' The Times.

Regardless of whether I personally like the material, every track/album that has been released or will (hopefully) be released is just another welcome piece of the bigger picture of Prince's artistic body of work. Not every track has to be a masterpiece for it to have worth.
