As I worked my original spider leg concept I realized that it was eating up all of the details quota, stealing from the rest of the composition visually and was shaping up to be a pain to animate... so its at the back of the barn now

Quick tour into procedural animations using PixiEditor. It's very easy to use node based + raster + vector editor which can export to sprite sheet. free + open source 🤯

My approach to building models is to start from a general polygon model of the shape outline, then optionally subdivide and apply boolean cutters. I never poly model anything otherwise.
