thanks to FT for featuring Atomic, and many other michigan companies working hard to reindustrialize. it's clear americans believe that we can't forget how to make things at home, but the *how* is a matter of time, policy, tech, and will that requires heavy alignment.

the biggest issue in moving reindustrialization forward faster is that young engineering talent and old head manufacturing trade talent are oceans apart and can't do knowledge transfer fast enough

many people still don't think we need to manufacture t-shirts and toasters here, but as noah points out, the parts and components that we need for drones are the same supply chains. will we reverse the trend and elevate suppliers over OEMs in time?

In the Cold War we were worried about the Missile Gap, which was highly exaggerated Now we are not paying enough attention to the Robot Gap, which is extremely real

Devastating to see this at AES in Tennessee. Everyone is feared dead. These guys work so hard and take on so much risk to produce munitions for American warfighters.

people don't realize that applied AI in manufacturing is actually just real cybernetics and will produce enormous companies that have genuine network effect scaling potential. tag yourself if you're working on part of this. i'll start (the whole thing is me)

We should build man-made islands for observational purposes around Latin America The Chinese did this with Mischief Reef in the Philippines:

i appreciate eric incanting reindustrialize, but this is the #1 tell of any AI exec/figurehead, if they knew AI could leapfrog china's industrial base transmuting tokens into atoms we'd be pouring trillions into building our own. again "advanced manufacturing" is a misnomer.

VCs will have partners from both sides of the aisle just like lobbying firms, a logical progression of tech and policy becoming commingled. Sequoia ahead of the curve.
