Excited to present my Poster on Temporal dynamics in VWM #VSS2024. You can find me Monday morning at Banyan Breezeway. (visionsciences.org/presentation/?…) Check the thread below for more amazing contributions form our lab VSS Meeting !

Another #pupillometry preprint ahead of #VSS2024! Veera Ruuskanen investigates how pupil size 👁️ and EEG power (alpha, beta, and theta 💪) relate to visual sensitivity and criterion in a threshold detection task. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0… 1/6 🧵

"Effort Drives Saccade Selection" is now in eLife - the journal, and it's my second paper ever as a co-author! Go check it out, and shoutout to the other authors for their knowledge and dedication! 🎉 👀 🎉 ➡️ doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…

Joey beat me to posting again, but I am beyond excited to share my first paper in the Awh Vogel lab! The highlights are in the title - we looked at neural signatures of spatial attention and WM load simultaneously and found that they are independently manipulable!

New preprint alert! In the first project of my PhD, we use RIFT to show that the visual system is not passively recruiting mechanisms of external attention for prioritization in VWM, but is instead using space as an organizational principle to store and select items in VWM.

New paper out in Association for Psychological Science with @chrispaffen, S van der Stigchel, & Surya Gayet. We used three distinct paradigms and consistently found that statistical learning influences the prioritization of visual objects in accessing consciousness. OA: doi.org/10.1177/095679…

We are looking for a new colleague! #Vacancy for a 4 year fully-funded PhD position in cognitive psychology. The candidate will investigate individual differences in the spotlight of visual attention. Apply before October 6th! uu.nl/en/organisatio…

New article in AP&P! Quick 4-tweet thread below: 1/ Humans rely heavily on the external world as an "external memory store". This has been shown time and time again. Here we wondered if this changes when items have time to consolidate in memory. link.springer.com/article/10.375…

Very happy to share that our (with Cogsci.nl) Registered Report is now accepted in CORTEX ! We tested whether covertly attending to bright/ dark patches still causes a pupil response even if the patches have faded from visual awareness.

New preprint out🚨 with Samson Chota Luzi Xu S van der Stigchel Surya Gayet, titled “The priority state of items in visual working memory determines their influence on early visual processing” osf.io/preprints/osf/…

Now updated with an additional experiment providing converging evidence! We conclude that memory-matching reappearing items guide the internal prioritization of an item that did not reappear. See the thread below for details. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

🚨My first paper with Samson Chota Luzi Xu S van der Stigchel Surya Gayet accepted in Consciousness and Cognition (sciencedirect.com/science/articl…) We asked whether the impact of VWM content on early visual processing depends on the priority state of memory items
