Read the "Behind the paper" story of our recent Nature Communications paper on #vanilla yields and #biodiversity! By Annemarie Wurz 🇺🇦 in the NatureEcoEvo Community. Paper: doi.org/10.1038/s41467… Behind the paper: ecoevocommunity.nature.com/posts/how-to-c…

The Diversity Turn in Land Use Science project led to the description of a #newspecies of frog!🐸🐸🐸 Found by PhD researcher Fulgence Thio Rosin Fulgence in #Marojejy National Park, Mantidactylus marintsoai is one of 24 species now described in Megataxa. Paper led by Dr Mark D. Scherz: doi.org/10.11646/megat…

New Diversity Turn paper by Jessica Andriamparany Scientific African reveals complex cross-regional trade in livestock and animal products by 🚚 & ✈️! Market supply of livestock and animal products in north-eastern Madagascar – the role of the vanilla boom doi.org/10.1016/j.scia…

We compared 🌳🪵🐦👨🌾 between forest-derived agroforests & fallow-derived agroforests established on land previously used for shifting cultivation. Former project members @Dominic_Mart & Estelle @estelle-ravel.bsky.social now studied a wider range of such 'shifting cultivation transitions'. 👇👇👇

One of Madagascar's bright stars✨received the Doctor title💪! Huge congrats to Dr Fulgence🤩 Your wisdom, patience and kindness were indispensable pillars in our Diversity Turn in Land Use Science project!

We have a new project paper out Ambio - A Journal of Environment and Society! Estelle @estelle-ravel.bsky.social et al. how how local people use the small-scale agricultural mosaic landscapes in north-eastern #Madagascar. Fallow land is particularly important, showing a benefit of shifting cultivation. doi.org/10.1007/s13280…

Our research in projects like EFForTS - CRC 990 and Diversity Turn in Land Use Science clearly shows: 1. We need to halt forest loss & conversion 2. Explore options such as tree islands or agroforestry with high tree cover to make the agricultural matrix more hospitable for wildlife. 2/n

New Diversity Turn in Land Use Science paper on exotic plant invasions out in Journal of Applied Ecology! Estelle @estelle-ravel.bsky.social shows how land-use intensity and relatedness to native plants promote exotic plant invasions in northeastern Madagascar.

The (second last?!) Diversity Turn in Land Use Science paper was published last month! Estelle @estelle-ravel.bsky.social et al. show how land-use intensity and relatedness to native plants promote exotic plant invasions in NE #Madagascar!
