When this pandemic started, if we could’ve magically known *in real-time* if / when we were each infected, we could’ve kept R<<1 and prevented the astounding damage that #COVID19 is still causing. That Magic = Simple Rapid Tests that tell us if we are infectious. Still crucial.

@DN_Frick Could use rapid tests instead of quarantine. Test daily after an exposure and if still not positive, then go about your day and test again the next morning. And if remaining negative for 7 days, then can stop the testing. Most in quarantine never become positive.

I fully agree that saying "less than 10 percent" of transmission occurs outdoors is not helpful. It's like saying the high temperature today will be less than 200 F. Here's a better guesstimate: <1%. nytimes.com/2021/05/11/bri…
