The department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences Rice Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, Rice Natural Sciences has opened its Pan post-doctoral fellowship competition for this year. Help us spread the word to the potential candidates. 🌋🌕🌎🪐☄️ eeps.rice.edu/eeps-job-oppor…
🚀 Exciting PhD & Postdoc Opportunities! 🚀 My group at Rice University is recruiting PhD students and postdocs for 2025. Join us to explore space and dive into cutting-edge cosmochemical research! Please consider applying or spreading the word. My NASA-funded programs focus on
How did S inventory evolve in the lunar mantle? - Tomorrow (Friday) morning Board 3015 at #AGU24, I'll present a new model designed with Rajdeep Dasgupta for lunar fO2, that can calculate the S solubility of silicate melts in equilibrium with sulfides of different metal/sulfur.
Where is sulfur (S) in the Earth's mantle? Sulfides of course! But can silicate minerals store some S during mantle melting? Can we measure trace S in silicates using EPMA? Rice Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences Rice Natural Sciences PhD student Anna Johnson's recent paper has some answers.🌋
What is the origin of the young Chang’e-5 mare basalts? -Tomorrow (Monday) at 2:50 in the #LPSC2025 Waterway 1, I'll present a joint study with Rajdeep Dasgupta that reveals the presence of garnet in the young lunar mantle, as a consequence of lunar cumulate mantle overturn.
Where and how the lavas in lunar farside South Pole were generated? In this work led by Rice Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, together with Rajdeep Dasgupta Dian Ji Cin-Ty Lee and collaborators, we explore the possibilities with a petrological approach 1/5 agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
Want to know the lunar S evolution from Apollo to Chang’e-5 mantle? Check out our new GCA paper with Rajdeep Dasgupta! A new sulfur content at sulfide saturation (SCSS) model is also attached that is suitable for sulfides with variable metal-sulfur ratio. doi.org/10.1016/j.gca.…
