"Be not desirous to know what people say; if they speak well of thee, it will feed thy pride, if ill, it will stir up thy passion. See that thou approve thyself to God and thine own conscience, and then heed not what men say of thee." —Matthew Henry

“Let it be once admitted that with God, no miracle is impossible. Let it be acknowledged that He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him [Heb. 11:6], so no true prayer will remain unblessed.” — David MacIntyre, The Hidden Life of Prayer

Happy Lord’s Day, friends. ⛪️ Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. — Psalm 100:4-5

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13) Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. (Job 13:15) At first glance, these verses seem at odds. But perhaps the goodness we see in the land of the

“Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.” — Psalms 37:1-3

I don’t know why I put on mascara today. It never stood a chance. In all my 39 years on this earth, I’ve never felt sadness like this. It’s strange how grief can ache like a physical wound. 💔

Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for His steadfast love endures forever; to Him who alone does great wonders, for His steadfast love endures forever — Psalm 136:3-4

God is completely sovereign. God is infinite in wisdom. God is perfect in love. For anyone else who needs the reminder today: trust Him.

People warned me about the sleepless newborn nights, the chaos of toddlers, and the drama of the teen years. But no one prepared me for the quiet, aching grief of watching my child grow up and move away. Life goes on, but everything feels different now.

Oh the depth of the riches Of the wisdom and knowledge of God How unsearchable his judgment How unknowable his paths Who knows the mind of our God And who can bring council to Him? Who has given to God That God should repay? For from Him, through Him To Him, is everything To

Going through trials. Asking for prayer. My boy is having a kidney transplant 1 week from today. And then last week I found out that I was effectively losing half my income starting this month (long story. God remains good and very kind to us). On top of that Cal recently

Dinner with my Bible study ladies tonight was just what my heart needed. We’ve been on break for the summer and I didn’t realize how much I missed them. So grateful for the sweet gift of fellowship in the body of Christ.

“Darkness is my closest friend.” (Psalm 88:18) Psalm 88 is striking because it doesn’t follow the usual pattern of moving from lament to hope. Most psalms of lament end with a turn where the psalmist remembers God’s steadfast love, a vow to praise, a view of the light at the end

If God is sovereign over something as small and seemingly insignificant as a sparrow, how much more is He sovereign over the details of our lives? Be encouraged… nothing that affects us escapes His control. We are never at the mercy of randomness or chance. Are not two sparrows
