Immediately following the mayor's 11am FY26 #dcbudget presentation, All In for DC will hold a press conference outside MLK Library in response to the proposed budget & call on DC Council to raise revenue by taxing wealth in order to preserve the programs & services we care about.

Her proposal makes cuts to critical cash/safety net programs--Medicaid, CTC, TANF & likely more, especially in the out years where cuts are hidden--and bets on trickle-down economics via giveaways and disproven strategies benefitting the corporate elite. This is policy violence.

While the Mayor touts her support for early childhood programs, like the Pay Equity Fund, she’s proposing eliminating all funding for the program starting in FY 2027. If it’s a successful and important program, why aren’t you funding it?

A budget is a moral document that shows what and who we value (& what and who we don't). It couldn't be more clear in the mayor's proposal that instead of ensuring the folks with the least get sheltered from the storm, they get left out in the cold dcfpi.org/press-releases…

Yesterday, the Mayor released her #FY26 budget, which abandons residents with the lowest incomes to fend for themselves just as DC enters a recession and Congress threatens to gut safety net programs. #DCBudget Read our full statement here: loom.ly/D54W_HQ

We just wrote about how raising revenue like MD just did in its budget could help stabilize DC's bond ratings dcfpi.org/all/raising-re… Increasing resources to cover expenses and not balancing the budget on the backs of the poor has all kinds of benefits. #DCBudget 1/

Mayor Bowser has proposed a FY26 #DCBudget and financial plan that abandons residents with the fewest resources to fend for themselves in the coming storm. Read the DC Fiscal Policy Institute’s initial analysis of what’s in the mayor’s proposal: loom.ly/QxmLq4Q

DC is battling austerity policies at the national & local levels. As Republicans have us barreling towards a local recession, Mayor Bowser is adding fuel to the fire w/her budget proposal. See DCFPI's new blog that pulls back the curtain & offers our first take on her proposal.

We would, in fact, put it that way. Read our initial analysis of what’s in the mayor’s proposal and how it relies on disproven “trickle-down” tactics at the expense of residents most sidelined in our economy: dcfpi.org/all/a-first-lo…

More than 49,000 DC residents are employed by the federal government. Given the role that federal employment has played for Black residents in the District, the recent layoffs are likely to exacerbate racial disparities in employment and earnings. loom.ly/kDGtNy4

The #FY26 budget includes non-budget items that impact DC workers, tenants, and residents. The Council of DC should reject these non-budget issues in the DC budget! Get it out of the budget: • I-82 Repeal • RENTAL Act • Sanctuary Values Act Repeal • PLA Rollbacks DC Jobs With Justice
