So important to read. What happened to Ayla was horrific and just highlights the issue of personality disorder misdiagnosis in autistic women, and more. The gaps and lack of access to specialist care close to home is an issue I’ve seen before for other Welsh families. Awful.

It was great to hear more about the SpinningPlates_CarerMH project at the #CDS24 conference. They highlighted how care is often not considered to be a part of disability studies, but the challenges that come with care in a disablist society are so important to acknowledge and address.

Straight from Lord Darzi #NHS report today. We are failing people with learning disabilities. Read that ⬇️ only 4 in 10 reach their 65th birthday, and we are still locking up autistics (including children) 2000 + for years. How long will it go on, Wes Streeting MP? We are dying.

The Darzi report looks at health inequalities faced by people from ethnic minoritised groups and people with learning disabilities. We know that more needs to be done to improve life expectancies within these groups. Yesterday, I spoke to GP’s from Wakefield about this.
