NEVER GROW OLD (2019) I love a dark film,and this is as dark as it gets. A more realistic view of the wild west is portrayed in this pitch black morality tale,where there are no good guys. John Cusack plays bad really well. A slow burn,but a memorable one. 8/10

WATERWORLD (1995) This aquatic Mad Max isn't anywhere near as bad as popular opinion suggests,full of plot holes but entertaining enough with good special effects and a satisfying villain in Dennis Hopper. If you've not seen it,you maybe relatively pleasantly surprised. 6/10

FIRE DOWN BELOW (1997) The title might sound like a particularly nasty STI,but it's actually a generic Steven Segal outing. Stereotypical hick townsfolk vs our ponytailed hero results in a bland and uninspiring movie. A shame as I quite like Segal. 4/10

REASONABLE DOUBT (2014) This starts off quite intriguing,if a little contrived. Unfortunately,it quickly becomes a very formulaic serial killer movie that's average at best. Even Samuel L Jackson can't save it from mediocrity. 5/10

ARMED RESPONSE (2017) Wesley Snipes and the I'll fated Anne Heche star in this so so sci fi horror mash up. It's certainly not as bad as some reviews claim,and quite gory in parts if that's your thing. But Average sums it up best. 5/10

THE TRANSPORTER (2002) I like Jason Statham and think he'd be an excellent 007,but this is too lightweight and slapsticky for my taste. I like some realism to the stunts and action,but found none here. Disappointing. 4/10

SABOTAGE (2014) A very sweary and ultra violent thriller with Arnie that was a pleasant surprise. Yes,it has plot holes and is over macho,but it has a decent story and some thrilling action. Did i mention the violence😏,it's very graphic. 7/10

THE RIVER WILD (1994) This thriller features a fit Meryl Streep and a charismatic Kevin Bacon,but it's the scenery and white water that are the real stars. Solid and entertaining enough. 6/10

THE DEER HUNTER (1979) It's good,but,my God it's long. Very,very long. Too long. Stick with Apocalypse now,that's much better,and shorter. 6/10

TEARS OF THE SUN (2003) An understated and subtle Bruce Willis performance helps with the serious tone of this war movie set in darkest Africa. Starts well,peaks in the middle but the unrealistic final battle scene lets it down. 6/10

SERAPHIM FALLS (2006) A very good offbeat western features Liam Neeson tracking nemesis Pierce Brosnan from snowy desolation to baking salt flats. Many quirky characters are met along the way,and the journey is both memorable and violent. 7/10

CHAOS (2005) Interesting little thriller that starts off very generic,but has a nice twist at the end that feels a bit 'usual suspects' That helps elevate it above the average and is a change of direction for Jason Statham. 6/10

ANY BULLET WILL DO (2018) If you ignore the opening battle scene,which is awful,this is ok for a low budget movie. Good scenery and interesting wordplay,but the action scenes disappoint and the story is predictable. 4/10

ANTHROPOID (2016) A fairly generic take on the killing of Heydrich,it's pacing is uneven and more of a back story would have helped. Instead there's a pointless romance and too many slow scenes. The final 30 minutes elevate it just above average. 6/10

SIGNS (2002) Mel Gibson leads in this subtle and understated Alien invasion thriller. It moves slow,but is well crafted and Joaquin Phoenix provides great support. I prefer my Alien films to be scarier though. 6/10

THE SUICIDE SQUAD (2021) An all star cast,including Sly Stallone as a shark(don't ask)help make this a stylish,violent and funny comic book adaptation. I didn't expect to like it,i was wrong,i loved it 8/10

PARKER (2013) Jason Statham plays Jason Statham again in this slightly muddled heist movie. It has a bit more story than his usual stuff,and the presence of the lovely J Lo is a pleasing distraction,but it's a touch overlong and confusing. 6/10

WRATH OF MAN (2021) A Guy Richie film unlike any other,no mockney rubbish here. It's quite a tough and taut affair with Statham playing to type,and some good set pieces. It's just a bit cold and lacking in character development. Scott Eastwood's villain is a bonus though. 7/10

MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (1985) Starts off well,and ends well,but it's slow and disjointed in the middle with the introduction of a gaggle of annoying feral children. Not a patch on the first two films. 6/10

THE LAST STAND (2013) Arnie's comeback movie is an uncomfortable mix of violence and slapstick humour. It doesn't work,it's lazy,generic and pretty boring. Sabotage(2014) is a much better bet. 4/10
