moons Cool writeup and mind bending tech! No one can do it better than a philosopher :). History says the stuff we laugh at first is what blindsides us later.

I truly think that if you are FPGA designer, you need to know about FPGA Conference or FPGA Horizons in the same way that if you work in cybersecurity, you need to know about DEFCON or Blackhat. In other cases, you are working as FPGA designer, but you are not.

Why should we buy expensive antennas on ISM frequencies when something made for drones "toys" pulverizes most of them for $7? After some tests the gain was also excellent with that one.

My hot take is that the vanilla PS3 was worth every bit of $600. Fully backwards compatible with a graphics synthesizer. DVD, CD, Blu-Ray capability. Four USB ports. SD and Micro SD card slots, nVidia RSX GPU, TOSHLINK optical output, and HDMI—all in 2006??? Insane.

Laser beams emitted from LiDAR can potentially destroy CMOS image sensors inside surveillance cameras or even smart phones as seen in this video.

Fun fact: bladeRF 2.0 xA9 has the biggest FPGA size of any USB SDR (and practically any SDR below $8k) with 301k logic elements! This lets you implement your protocol in HDL. For comparison: SDRs in this class have < 100k LEs. The next contender is USRP B205mini with 150k LEs.

Jim McPherson There are a few books like "Digital Signal Processing with Field Programmable Gate Arrays" and "FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems" but I haven't read them. There is also an open source implementation of IEEE802.11 on bladeRF: nuand.com/bladerf-wiphy/

"[Lacatski] stated that the United States was in possession of a craft of unknown origin and had successfully gained access to its interior." One of the reasons Lacatski gave for not wanting to testify? "I don't want to get involved in what would appear to be a three-ring
