Can we accept we're almost minnows? It's not a management issue. Romania & Hungary dropped down levels for about 20 years before they became competitive again. Now it's our turn! Let's accept it & invest properly in the game here. Over to you Irish Gov & FAI! #COYBIG #IRLGRE

Until football gets proper investment in Ireland we are gonna continue to slide down the rankings, whether it’s Hallgrímsson, Halle Berry or Hal Roach managing. The government only cares about football when there’s a tournament on here or we somehow qualify for a finals. Grim.

Dave O'Grady Let's not accept the status quo. We should demand more from the players currently representing us and demand even more from the FAI and government.

Finally time for the Irish Gov and FAI to get aboard the train. The potential for an incredible football industry in Ireland is huge. Let's support it like we do horse and dog racing and it will thrive! We'll then see proper GLOBAL success.

The Irish Government pledged €50 million to redvelop Casement Park as part of this Euro 2028 project. Imagine what it could do to help transform Irish football now?!

Time for the Irish government to invest most of the €50 million pledged to upgrade the GAA’s Casement Park to ready it for a soccer tournament into infrastructural developments for LOI grounds and academies.

If LOI is now solely responsible for producing Irish players, then perhaps it should be separated from the FAI and funded accordingly? Give the Irish Gov no more excuse so they can't constantly link the lack of funding to the FAI's awful legacy! #COYBIG irishtimes.com/sport/soccer/2…

Luca Connell has been involved in more attacking sequences in League One than any other player this season (30). Overall, he also ranks third amongst midfielders for chances created (13) and attempted shots (14) and fourth for passes played into the box (45). #BarnsleyFC

Fair play to former GAA president, Séan Kelly, who has called for more funding for Irish football in the wake of the Dundalk FC situation. Kelly is currently an MEP for Ireland South. irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/e…

Ireland will likely have just two players actually playing in the #UCL this season - (at Celtic) That is less than Albania, Slovenia, and Georgia - nations of smaller populations. Career pathways is the biggest reason for the difference, from an Irish perspective. #COYBIG

Celtic's Liam Scales won 11 duels tonight vs Slovan Bratislava - the most of any player in a Champions League game so far this matchday. It's the most recorded by a Celtic player in the competition since Mikael Lustig vs Anderlecht in September 2017 (13). #CelticFC OptaJoe

#WexfordFC is making a big pitch for funding for an ambitious new ground development. An upgraded N11 road project will eventually cut through its current home. Now it’s teamed up with Wexford County Council, the FAI, and others to plan for a big move to a brand new venue.
