Dan Russell really miss listening to local sports talk at 10 pm every night. It was local and very Vancouver.

First time I ever heard the term “appointment radio”.

Dan Russell I loved how you were able to talk about all sports. Your baseball segment with Rod Beaton was great. All we get now is Canuck talk all the time. Vancouver just had a kid come to town that dominated ESPN shows last year. No one bothered to drive to SFU.

Dan Russell My parents sent me to bed but I wouldn't goto sleep. I'd sneak out the phone attached to the wall in the basement to call in and give you my 12 year old insights on how the Canucks should deploy their lines. Those were the days.

Dan Russell I remember one time hearing Big Al and Harry going at it and Harry ends up saying how would you like me to shove that microphone up your ass. On Air and all joking.

The genesis of Sportstalk was Little Berner in the Night.

Wow…. That is quite a little story. An on air argument with Ray, for some reason then being put into a ST draw, subsequently winning grand prize of WHL season tix. (Fun fact: Ray once scored 108 goals in just one WHL season!)

Unfortunately, there’s a good reason for that.

Sometimes it pays to be tardy…!!

One legacy I wish Sportstalk would’ve successfully passed along to this generation was waiting 20 GP to evaluate the Canucks. I literally heard hosts ask about a “panic button” only 3 GP into season! That’s beyond ridiculous. It’s embarrassing. Just wait! 20 is best barometer.

That’s why you have to give it at least 20. You need to see games when the novelty wears off, home games, away games, injured games, back to backs, backup goalie games, etc.#WaitFor20

Dan Russell Yeah I agree with you there Dan. Way too many in this fanbase panic far earlier than they need to. If they hit the quarter mark and they still suck, go ahead and begin panicking. Doing it before then just makes you look silly or dumb... or maybe a little of both.

The questions are fair. But they can wait until they reach 20 games.
