Wilting corn plants: seedling blight? Dig affected plants and examine the mesocotyl (the part of the plant between the seed and first nodal roots). shriveled and discolored=blight. If mesocotyl is firm and healthy examine seed and plant for signs of insect feeding.

In SW IN Early April planting and late group 2/Early 3 soybeans has been a consistent recipe for early flowering, longer podfill, better high yield chances. One of many factors, but an important one.

Anyone know of an app that will count kernels for you? @GranularAg and Pioneer Seeds U.S. used to have one, but it’s gone. Counting kernel rows and length on several ears gets tiresome and time consuming. #AgTwitter

Seed corn maggot making their presence known. Fields were planted March 30-Apr2. Vertical tillage incorporated winter annuals and stalks right at seeding depth attracting flies to lay eggs. Beans were treated with Thiamethoxam or imidacloprid.

The Advanced Agrilytics S IN KY team worked together this AM to collect V6 plant samples on 19 hybrids. We’ll analyze early growth and plant mass for each product as impacted by mgt & environment. Our goal is to help customers place and manage products to reduce risk and increase yields.
