Unpopular opinion: Yes, the Philippines has a predominantly Christian population. However, our government is secular. Nakakairita na yung govt regulators ay masyadong religious. They censor films like Dreamboi. We need secular govt workers. Stop putting religion in govt.

Dapat papiliin na lang ang bachelor’s degree students kung gusto nila gumawa ng thesis or do an internship, not do both. In the first place, maraming incapable na magturo ng research at nagiging research advisers. Second, may degree programs na mas needed ng practical training.

We demand science-based approaches to many of our problems including urban planning and disaster management. Meanwhile, the government neglects our scientists, and underfunds scientific research.

Whatever you do, don't stop reading. Read for joy. Read for education. Read banned books. Read books by marginalized authors. Read about how to dispose of the bodies of your enemies. Just. Keep. Reading.

If your religion pushes you to vote for corrupt and dishonest officials, maybe it’s time to reflect. Faith should promote integrity, not corruption.

With childhood literacy declining steeply, you need to give books to the kids in your life this Christmas. Children who read are smarter, more empathetic and more socially adjusted than their non-reading peers. Nothing ensures a child's success like a love of reading.

Let's support her decision.

I’m seeing a shocking amount of love on the timeline for David Copperfield, The Count of Monte Cristo & other classics. People are opening these books and discovering that they’re hypnotically readable. They’ve been beloved for generations because they’re terrific stories.

I love Philippine literature. I love fellow creatives who actively shape and challenge our local lit. Those who care to create out of love and duty for the Filipino people. For the present and future Filipino readers. These people exist. Often times, outside the institutions.

Spanish friars in the Philippines, particularly the Augustinians, developed the architectural style called the “earthquake baroque” that can withstand frequent seismic activity. It is characterized by robust, squat and fortress-like structures with thick and massive walls.

Sometimes, you can tell who takes mythology & folklore for the "aesthetics" kuno. Ang foreign ng gaze o may pagka-exoticized. So it's refreshing to meet someone who knows the tales are innately cultural, a part of daily life. A sacred knowledge rooted from respective cultures.

Either be strategic and have a good chance to fight or just be a purist and watch the country burn. Ganun lang. Matuto na sana tayo. Mahalaga ang role ng movements, pero hindi sapat na ito lang. Maraming aspeto na kailangan tutukan para protektahan ang demokrasya.

I will always, always encourage people to read Filipino works. It's never too late to read in Filipino, or works in any Philippine languages! Yes, even works in Philippine English is Filipino (especially when it's rooted in Philippine sensibilities & culture). #panitikandom

I wish writers get paid. I'm talking about fictionists, poets, novelists, comics writers, children's lit writers. Especially writers writing in the vernacular. Sana rin well funded and lucrative job ang translation in Philippine languages.
