Encounter #47 • 06-Aug • L Pod. The whales were active and there was a lot of breaching and splashing. We had a brief pass by L103 and L118 while a larger active grouped passed by offshore. We also saw L124 and L125 playing together again. whaleresearch.com/2022-47

On Aug. 13, CWR's Mark Malleson sent a text saying he and his crew were having an "epic" encounter with J, K, & L pods. Unknown to them at the time, a commercial fishing boat had sunk off the west side of San Juan Island, carrying 2,600 gal. of diesel oil. whaleresearch.com/2022-49
