Thanks to Lord (David) Alton for continuing to raise this issue. It's good to see progress on removing Hikvision cameras, but cellular modules are being used in more & more technologies. We look forward to working with the new government to combat this threat to our security.

Airfryers are other smart devices could be listening in more than you think. If marketing companies are already gathering data through these gadgets, it's likely that some Chinese-owned companies-obliged to report back to the CCP- are doing the same. thetimes.com/uk/technology-…

Lord Fox warns of China's dominance in IoT (70% market share) and solar (80%+). Subsidised underpricing risks global security, giving China access to critical data and the ability to disrupt infrastructure. A strategic threat we can't ignore.

Baroness D'Souza warns of China's push for a global monopoly in electronic communications tech, controlling 70% of IoT modules. Subsidies, protected markets, and strategic takeovers risk UK security, from infrastructure to defence systems. A critical threat to address.

Thank you to our Chair for highlighting this crucial issue. Strengthening our domestic tech industry is key to protecting the UK's critical national infrastructure. We must wake up the threat of Chinese components and take action. #CyberSecurity

The long-awaited China audit, now folded into the National Security Strategy, is a step in the right direction—but it is not the strategic reset many of us had hoped for. #ChinaAudit #NationalSecurityStrategy #UKPolicy #SecureTech #UKStrategy #NationalSecurity

The government has taken some useful steps. The investment in intelligence services, the tightening of state threats legislation, and the planned guidance for businesses are all necessary. But these are starting points, not endpoints. #ChinaAudit #NationalSecurityStrategy

Rare earths aren't the only strategic chokehold China holds. Our lead expert Charlie Parton warns of a new 'Rare earths 2.0' threat: Cellular IoT Modules. China already controls 69% of the market - if Beijing dominates CIMs, it could switch us off. fdiintelligence.com/content/0e92b0…
