To counter the "rearing animals is bad for the planet" narrative, we need to understand nomadic pastoral systems in ways that begin with, and respect, local knowledge and context pastres.org/2021/11/12/why… (Pic by co-author Ian Scoones )

The most hit and vulnerable communuties of climate change in Somalia are agro-pastoralists as they encounter most of climate risks such as droughts, floods & rainfall failure so employing climate-resilient agriculture would a sustainable practice for them to deal with the crisis.

#DYK Nomads spend $6 annually to water each goat. Travelling many kilometers for free #water takes courage and a minute silence by the goats who have made safely to the river

#DYK camels are bigger than cattle but eat and drink less than cattle. Camel dropping is used to treat ringworms in nomad children. When camel dropping is anaerobically digested, no sign of burning fuel/methane is released. However, both are kind.
