Deafness and disability as whole is not a competitive area. Don't feel you are less disabled than someone else. We are all different and react to life challenges in different ways. We equally support Hard of hearing people, Deaf and BSL speakers. πŸ’•πŸ‘‚

Please think about your colleagues who rely on lip reading! πŸ‘‚πŸ™ We understand that you might have a bad hair day or generally dislike seeing yourself on video. But for us seeing your lips moving is just as important as hearing your voice. Please, turn on your video! πŸ‘‚πŸ™πŸ’•

Hearing aids are not equivalent to glasses, they are far less effective and a lot more intrusive and uncomfortable. By the end of the day it's just a microphone. They still would not tell the direction of the sound πŸ‘‚

Please consider how you use words Hearing loss. You can't loose something what you never had. People who were born Deaf have just as full lives but different in other aspects. Some of them find it painful to be referred to as people with Hearing loss.

High noise levels can be also experienced through headphones. We use them a lot during meetings. Have you noticed yourself speaking much louder after taking the headphones off? Look after your ears πŸ‘‚πŸ‘‚πŸ’—

Our aim is to promote the awareness of every day challenges at work that Deaf and hard of hearing people experience. We are not after controversy. We understand the pain that disability can bring. But we call for kindness, understanding and acceptance of our voluntary efforts

Sign language week 15-19 March. Have you heard of #Oralism? It's the system of teaching deaf people to communicate by the use of speech and #lip-reading rather than sign language

Do you know unusual examples of famous/inspirational/high achieving deaf and hard of hearing people? Apart from the standard Hollywood actors, singers and athletes that you find on Google. It would be great to see a contemporary varied list of motivational inspirations
