Sorry to hear of mudslides and flooding in Sausalito and Mill Valley. I use to have a girlfriend in Sausalito. And I supervised a group home in Tiburon, with a nearby residence of Sly and the Family Stone, which the kids would burglarize. Those were the days, 1974. ~Loren Coleman

Bernard Heuvelmans’ Sea Serpent classification system was good, but Loren Coleman and Patrick Huyghe improved it by combining Merhorse & Long-Necked (as sexual dimorphism) into the waterhorse for Sea Serpents *and* Lake Monsters! Loren Coleman Patrick Huyghe Pirate Moth Boi 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧

Note the Yeti art used in Bernard Heuvelmans’ Spanish ed of On The Track Of Unknown Animals (1955) is different than the one in the English ed (1958). The change was the incorporation of the “domed” skullcap appearance of the late 1950s’ expeditions’ pursuits. Loren Coleman

Intriguing & good news that Darren Naish continues on his long-term project to illustrate every “species” that Bernard Heuvelmans (systematically) listed as possibly existing. Darren is cryptozoofriendly, and I (Loren Coleman) support his healthy attraction to #cryptids & #toyanimals.

@Chris_Forbes_T Darren Naish I said “cryptozoofriendly.” Darren Naish is a critical thinker. No harm there. He’s open-mindedness, affection for the subject, and true attraction to the figurines, souvenirs, and topic is quite apparent to me. He’s hardly a hostile debunker. I have met some in my life. The Four Horsemen of Sasquatchery ~ Rene Dahinden, John Green, Peter Byrne, and Grover Krantz ~ have now passed away. Others have too ~ Bob Titmus, Ivan Sanderson, Bernard Heuvelmans, Al Hodgson, Roger Patterson, Tom Slick, & Tom Page. A generation of seekers gone! Loren Coleman
