Creator of Black History Month: Carter G. Woodson, “Father of Black History.” He was notably the second African American to graduate from Harvard University with a Dr. degree, he is credited with being one of the first to study/research the history of African Americans.

After years of remarkable work as an attorney, Thurgood Marshall became the first African American to serve in the U.S. Supreme Court. Officially nominated by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967, he served as a justice until 1991.

We have been awarded the Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness for the 2024-2025 school year. Our application was reviewed by experts at the GA Department of Education and the GAEmergency Management and Homeland Security Agency and we met the requirements for this distinction!
