A beautiful windy day for a Capitol tour w/ Russell Boulevard. Their own Rep Kathy Steinhoff came up to meet one group & the other group got to see her bring an Amendment to the floor that was voted on & passed. Democracy in action! Remember Russell Ravens, YOU are the strong MO Bear!

Had a great time with Cedar Ridge Elementary 5th graders at the Boone County History & Culture Center today. They had such great questions about the life of the Lenior/Nifong family who lived in the Maplewood home. What an outstanding piece of preserved history & perfect for Placed Based Learning!

Over 4000 #cpsbest middle schoolers participated in the 3rd Annual CoMo GeoBee. Tonight the 7 school winners competed to be crowned District Champion. Congratulations to runner up, Sid Mueller of Oakland M S and to our 3-time repeat Champion, Ben Hanson of JMS!

I was a big fan of all the little details that went into making our Multicultural Event such a memorable day of learning for our #TrustyHuskies. From fortune cookies for dessert to flag buttons, our Equity Committee really went above & beyond!

The MO House plans to vote Tuesday on an education bill that would expand vouchers for private schools by $25M and expand charters to *specifically* Boone County. This would mean local taxes would be spread across two parallel systems to educate the same number of kids. Not good!

We're getting back in the swing of it with the start of a new school year! Thrilled to already have our first field trip on Day 7 of the school year! Thanks Boone County History & Culture Center for always being terrific hosts.

This account hasn't posted in a while but we are back and excited for the 2024-25 school year! These two groups of social studies experts are ready to engage our students in civil discourse and have a lot of fun doing it!

I've been teaching for over 20 years, and these are 8 rules I live by: 1. Spend the first week or two learning about each of your students—their passions and concerns. This effort will make your school year smoother because your students will know that you genuinely care.

These are fascinating and would make for great writing prompts or What do you see? What do you think? What did you wonder?

It's a Wednesday in the Fall which means the 5th graders were at Boone County History & Culture Center for some Place Based Experiences. Today we welcomed Cedar Ridge Elementary & Fairview Elem COMO. The students were inquisitive, energetic, and respectful of the Museums and our amazing docents. #cpsbest for sure!

Had our first SS Meet Up at Shakes West yesterday and I only took one picture. Middle school turn out was small but mighty. High School teachers represented well. Will grab better pics at Meet Up #2 coming later this fall!

Culture Fest was a hit at Hickman High School today! Such a celebration of the diversity that makes the school so special. Mrs. Schmittel & Mrs. Turek did a terrific job organizing students who were so excited to share!
