I wrote a wee piece recently about my experience of career diversification and subsequent undiversification (as if life in mixed practice is ever anything other than diverse!). You can read it here if you're interested:

#foodmiles are not an issue when generous farmers send you home with tatties. These Charlottes are enormous and spectacularly tasty, perfect with #scotchbeef chilli on a nippy autumn night 😘👌

Society is still so big on this kind of ageist self-sabotage, and with that, wasting a load of skills, knowledge and wisdom 🙄

This was such a good meeting! Great to see how the surveillance system swings into action when weird things happen on farm, and fab contributions on health planning and ocular disease from Ed Thrums Vets and SRUC Veterinary Services. Thanks to all who made it happen Sheep Veterinary Soc Ceva Animal Health

"What's your crotch like?" Post- (non-human) bodily-fluid splashback incident. Another one for the occasional series "things overheard between colleagues in my workplace, but probably not acceptable in yours" 😂

Is there some common thread in this which is woven through rural veterinary practice, too? Community, variety, adaptability, resourcefulness, resilience - fulfilling work indeed. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-…

Strathspey farmers making a peaceful but resolute stand tonight, campaigning for better governance and more meaningful engagement with the Cairngorms national park authority. No dung deposits yet! 🇫🇷💩

Tragic news of another dog attack. The breed is not the only factor though. In what other crime do we destroy evidence before it can be examined? How can we learn about what drives these events, and hope to prevent them in future, if the animals are not alive to be assessed?

Eilidh Corr (@correilidh) 's Twitter Profile Photo

For clarity, I'm not arguing that dangerous dogs should not be euthanased. However, unless we start gathering data and evidence to help us understand these events, we won't succeed in preventing them. Having appropriate clinicians assess these animals has to be the start point.

We carried out a social experiment at the @RoyalWelshShow Winter Fair. Please watch and share. Mental health needs more sunlight, more honesty and more conversations #MindYourHead

#smalleuropeanwoman smashing it in the Barkley Marathons. Rooting for you Jasmin, what a role model you are for our daughters 💪 (For anyone unfamiliar with this remarkable woman, mother, vet, researcher and ultra runner, see here for inspiration: jasminfellrunner.blogspot.com/2020/01/spine-…)

Eilidh Corr (@correilidh) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And she's done it! Astonishing, history-making, powerful and inspiring. The mental resilience needed to achieve this is incomprehensible (although if anyone was going to have it they'd be a mum and a vet 😁)

Brilliant and thought-provoking presentation from Dr Heather Bacon at VETTrust this morning. Seems we can't help animals without having compassion for people. Empathy goes a long way.
