There are major changes to the Coronavirus Job retention scheme with flexible furloughing from July and a sliding scale from August for employers to contribute to the scheme. The scheme will still end on 31 October.

10 June 2020 is the last day for employees to be furloughed before the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme closes on 30 June 2020.

The Chancellor announced the introduction of the Job Retention Bonus. This is a one-off payment of £1,000 to employers that have used the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) for each furloughed employee who remains continuously employed until 31 January 2021.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme comes to an end on 31 October 2020 and will be replaced by the Job Support Scheme until April 2021. There will also be schemes put in place in local lockdown areas for affected businesses. Please feel free to contact us for further details.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), which was due to end on 31 October, will now be extended, with the government paying 80% of wages for the hours furloughed employees do not work, up to a cap of £2,500 for periods from 1 November.

Rishi Sunak has extended the 80% furlough scheme until March 2021. In addition, for the self-employed, the Government will pay 80% of average profits for the period November to January.

HMRC have announced there will be no late filing penalties for filing your 2019/20 tax return as long as it is filed by 28 February 2021. Any tax liabilities still need to be paid by 31 January 2021.

HMRC has announced that self-assessment taxpayers won’t be charged the automatic 5% late payment penalty if they pay what they owe for 2019/20 or set up a payment plan by 1 April 2021.
