Some BTS shots of Shot 53 & the multi plane Lego-system I created for the shot. I had no idea if any of this would work especially with the use of forced perspective cuz I’d never really tried it before. It took some trial & error but it’s working better than I thought it would!

Shot 53/129 Part 2: I wrapped up the first shot since coming back from my bike accident & I decided to show some tricks I’m using and also get a bit sappy about how much gratitude I have to be able to come back and work on this project with all of you!

Shot 54/129: I used 3 different levels: the background on the bottom, The Rookie running on the second & the parked cars on the third. Using his position in front of the windows, doors, etc is a great way to stay on track and helps with his speed.

Shot 55/129 Part Two This was a much trickier set up than I thought it would be. A lot of planning and figuring out how things should work together and how many layers were needed and how to get them all to work together. #beastieboys #miked #adrock #mca #spikejonze #sabotage

Shot 55/129 Part Three After many attempts we finally pulled this shot off. One of the the things that really seemed to work is going from a small Rookie to a big Rookie when Sir Stewart Wallace passes in front of him. What do you think?

Shot 56/129 Part 2: Creating the background for this shot is a bit more time consuming than usual because there are four layers that all have to work together to give the feeling that we’re moving forward down the path.

Shot 56/129 We did it! It took a while & I recruited my wife to help pull this shot off but we finally got the dreaded Shot 56 completed! #beastieboys

Shot 57/129 This was a fun one cuz of the cool practical effect of using the plastic wrap to simulate the splashing water! It was also fun to have the guys “disappear” into the water by taking parts of them away as they went under.

Shot 1-60. This is by far the most rewarding project I have ever worked on. The time spent creating and animating (both alone and with my wife @nikki_elle) are some of the most exciting, passionate and downright fun I’ve ever had creating something and I love every second of it.
