Whale, whale, whale, what do we have here? This collection of whales belonged to former English professor Dr. Ralph Hoppe '54. He taught the novel Moby Dick and collected various whale figurines. Hoppe retired in 1994 after teaching for 34 years. #FindingAidFriday

In January 1993, the chamber ensemble Aequalis visited Concordia. Comprised of pianist Fred Bronstein, cellist Elizabeth Mohr, and percussionist Michael Parola, the group was known for presenting new works by American composers.

Hey! Guess what day it is! Happy Hump Day! This photo was taken on a May Seminar trip to East Africa in 1982. With spring break approaching, as well as the end of the year, many departments are promoting many different opportunities for students to travel abroad.

Before long, the winter snow will melt and raise the water level of the Red River. In 1997, the F-M area faced a catastrophic flood. Many Cobbers helped local homeowners, schools, and churches with recovery. Here, a student rides in the back of a truck to help with sandbagging.

Park Region Luther College opened in Fergus Falls in 1892, one year after Concordia. By 1909, it had a four-year college program, and Concordia followed suit by 1915. A few years later, PRLC merged with Concordia, and, in 1932, permanently closed. 📷: The 1904 PRLC drama club.

Today is National Plant a Flower Day! While this isn't a flower, it was a tradition for each graduating class to plant a tree on Concordia's campus. Here we have three representatives of the Class of 1959 planting their tree shortly before their ceremonies begin. #cordmn

We hope your first full week of classes is going well, Cobbers! The weather is wonderful. We hope you've been able to spend time outside, whether you're in class or socially distancing with friends. If you haven't take time to find a spot outside to relax like these students did.

Happy Homecoming Fall Fest, Cobbers! We wanted to show some love to the Class of 1970 and the Class of 1995 who would be celebrating their 50th reunion and 25th reunion respectively. Pictured are the Homecoming programs from each class's senior year at Concordia.

The Christmas Festival included a gift exchange for all students, staff and faculty. No gift could cost more than 15 cents. The gymnasium was decorated and everyone would gather to sing and listen to the President speak. This festival became part of the Christmas Concert in 1927.
