Last night, the University of Galway celebrated the launch of Imirce at Bonham Quay on Galway Docks. Imirce is a digital repository of transcripts of thousands of Irish emigrant letters and memoirs dating from the late 1600s through to the mid-20th century. 1/3

Volumes from the Lamhscribhinni de hÍde - 117 items belong to Douglas Hyde and which Hyde bequeathed to the Library here on his death in 1949 - containing manuscript poetry and prose in Irish collected over many decades, dating from 17th to 20th centuries.
