I believe both these things are true: 1 - Flight attendants should receive ground pay (when FAs aren't in the air but are working). 2 - Canada desperately needs more domestic airline competition, to break the near duopoly that exists in domestic air travel.

Canada’s new govt has many of the right priorities—budget balance, defence, housing, immigration reform—but success hinges on execution. That means fewer symbols, more results. My latest in The Hill Times on turning mandate into momentum. 🇨🇦 Macdonald-Laurier Institute bit.ly/4g5kfYZ

Fantastic op-ed from Peter Copeland, who has writing some exceptionally sharp commentary that bears significant attention. Given all he does for Macdonald-Laurier Institute, I don't know how he finds the time, but I'm very glad that he does. Read and learn! 👇💯

Canadians cannot access healthcare. A 1960’s policy approach isn’t meeting needs in 2025 Every other country with universal care allows a blend of public and private options. It’s time for change! Josh Dehaas The Hub thehub.ca/2025/08/21/sha…

Rather than just complaining about the decline in free speech in Canada, Ryan Alford's latest paper for Macdonald-Laurier Institute offers an intellectual history of how we got here - how our conception of free speech has been degraded through the long slow rise of expressive individualism

From classical Athens to Canadian Confederation, the tradition of #freespeech meant bold truth-telling in service of democracy. @Ryan_p_alford warns this legacy is eroding as ‘harmful’ ideas are censored, and urges Canadians to resist: macdonaldlaurier.ca/the-forgotten-…

Another superb piece by MRJB 🇬🇧🇨🇦 for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute! "The heavy emphasis on diversity to the detriment of unity belongs to the thought-world of late 20th-century globalisation and postmodern eclecticism." macdonaldlaurier.ca/multiculturali…

Ontarians can’t pay privately for hip or knee surgery—yet out-of-province Canadians can. @Shawn_whatley & @joshdehaas say private clinics can cut waitlists, keep nurses working, and strengthen public health care: macdonaldlaurier.ca/its-time-for-o…

1. The Wall Street Journal's Pamela Paul painted portrait of conservative moms suggesting they are embracing high-powered careers about as much as liberals. It was based largely on inside-the-Beltway moms. Outside the Beltway, real story is very different. Just look at this new The Institute for Family Studies: 👇🏽

Why is Canada’s family policy stuck in the past? I spoke with Patrick T. Brown of Ethics and Public Policy Center about child benefits, income splitting, caregiving, and why treating families like individuals in tax law is a recipe for demographic decline. If you understand that Canadian youth need freedom of speech more than ever (but fear they are increasingly less likely to understand that & to value it), you need to tune in when Eric Kaufmann, Peter Copeland & I discuss how to reinvigorate the concept & its defence. See you then!👇🔥
