“Ten years ago I was kicked out and forced to retire.” Our new medicine laureate Katalin Karikó (Katalin Kariko) told us how much it means to be awarded the Nobel Prize after a scientific career that has been full of challenges. Ten years ago, Karikó was still doing all her

My work in M. Madan Babu and Dr. Liz Miller group is online! We found an IDP, HeLEA1, from tardigrade can modulate biophysical properties of membranes via conserved disorder-helical transition, regulating mitochondrial function for stress tolerance. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38269070/

I was very happy to be involved with this project on Mad2 conversion, driven by Conny WH Yu, Élyse Fischer and David Barford.

My last paper from my PhD is now live on biorxiv! A fantastic wrap up to Conny WH Yu and I’s work with David Barford on the MCC and a detailed molecular analysis of the metamorphic protein Mad2. Thank you Joe Greener for collaborating with us and your stellar MD work.

An interesting summary of our paper 😉 Élyse Fischer

After six fantastic years at @MRC_LMB, I'm returning to Denmark to join Molekylærbiologi - Molecular Biology! Starting August 2024, we'll combine biochemistry, cryoEM, and single-molecule imaging to study how DNA damage is recognized and repaired. sites.google.com/view/alconlab

Particularly proud of this collaboration with Lori Passmore and James Stowell, demonstrating how unstructured proteins can tune mRNA deadenylation rates in a phosphorylation-dependent manner. Well done, James!
