At this point these duck ponds are growing faster than the corn here in C IL. And yes, it’s raining pretty good as I take this photo!

Depending on the date you use, mid April corn has accumulated 30-40% more GDUs than the “average”!

I can’t get a good pict but you get the idea. There are more CRW beetles this year than I’ve seen in a few.

A few dents showing up!

The story on mid April corn I’m looking at. It only really comes down to this one event on May 24. If you are in the red, the corn is 3’ shorter and is going to be off considerably.

The whitetails have cast their vote, hybrid A (the outside 32 rows) is superior in taste to hybrid B.

Tar spot incidence is pretty high (find it all over) but severity is low. Going to be interesting to see if it has impact this year.

These aphid ears aren’t pretty. 18x18 instead of 18x34. About half I guess.

Gonna be a dog fight to determine who’s the top hybrid in this limited irrigation corn plot. My money is on 218-66 brought over from the regional brands. I’m sure 215-70 and the old king corn 214-78 will be right there. What a full season lineup from Channel Seed Reed Seed

Seeing more CRW beetles this year in corn on corn fields but haven’t found any issues with STX Pro or VT4 Pro holding them back.
