Got some more good work in today on the softball field. Mowing and most of the weed eating done, mats cleaned up and fences cleaned. Batting cage and bullpen area are ready to use and the dugout entrance is all cleaned up. Pretty productive afternoon!

So last Friday at BHS Bruin Fest, some students in a band together asked me if I would sing with them! They had seen some of my Shark Bait videos. You KNOW I said heck yeah! My guy there posted his VH Eruption solo to Reddit and this was one of the comments! So freaking cool.

And then emails with videos like this. This girls could PLAY! 😁 “Hi Mr. Mathis, I am told that you are the one who jumped in to sing when our daughter Sasha was playing electric guitar at the Bruin Fest talent show! Thank you for making her performance extra memorable!!”

Emails like this make me a happy teacher! Been encouraging and mentoring this young person for weeks leading up to testing day today and they KILLED it! Now if I can just convince them to go Navy!

Favorite day of the semester right here! I get to hand out 56 TestOut Corporation Pro certificates to some awesome Blacksburg High students! My classes have worked so hard this semester. 34 Network Pros & 22 PC Pros including FIVE students with perfect scores! I love my job! #thisismcps

And then some days you have twenty students get Microsoft Office Specialist certified in Word 365! Such a huge confidence booster for these kids and GREAT for the resume! Have a few more testing this week and they will all do awesome. I love this job! #microsoft

The energy was unmatched as the softball team crushed their clean max out session, and the results speak for themselves!💪 Out of 19 PRs, 10 of them were OVER body weight! Strong. Fast. Powerful. This team is building something special. 🥎🔥

My absolute FAVORITE part of the Semester! Passing these out to some very deserving students (just a small sampling of the DOZENS of certs earned this Semester). It’s been a really great Semester and I am so proud of these young people’s hard work. Now for a well-deserved break.
