Enjoyed the amazing Keystone Symposia on neuroimmune and neurodegeneration in #SantaFe. Appreciate the opportunity to talk about Koichiro Haruwakaâs project on how microglia promote neuronal activity. Manling Xie presented the poster on rod-shaped microglia in TDP43 neurodegeneration.

The first official group photo of Wu lab UTHealth Houston today! Beryl ruined our planned lab gathering, but we all stayed safe. Appreciate the diligence of members in Houston diligence setting up the new lab at our new Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology CNG at UTHealth Houston.

CNG director Wu Lab at UTHealth and Dean Hancock introducing our center today at McGovern Med School IMM Research Retreat in collaboration with McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics! Thank you to all who came to hear about CNGâs vision to harness immunity to treat neurological disorders!

Our lab celebrates the approval of animal protocols McGovern Med School CNG at UTHealth Houston Appreciate tremendous efforts and team work for the past several months! Canât wait to start the wet lab work đ€©

Today we welcomed Dr. Yi Ren from Florida State University for a seminar at CNG! We loved learning about foamy macrophage-microglia interactions in spinal cord injury and beyond! McGovern Med School

Congratulations to Jiaying Zheng (Fiona) éćéą and Koichiro Haruwaka!

Beautiful work to map the binding domains of different TREM2 ligands! The study replicated and confirmed our first report showing that TDP-43 binds microglial TREM2 published in 2022 Nature Neuroscience Manling Xie Yong U. Liu Mayo Clinic Neuro CNG at UTHealth Houston

Check out our newly published work Science Advances on microglia-neuron interaction in led by talented PhD student Shunyi Zhao Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences CNG at UTHealth Houston. Shunyi used in vivo 2p imaging to show that chemogenetic activation of Gi in microglia reduces neuronal synchronization.

The program is now finalized for the 2nd annual Hans J. MĂŒller-Eberhard Symposium on Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology! The event will be held CNG at UTHealth Houston at Institute of Molecular Medicine McGovern Med School UTHealth Houston. Thanks all committed speakers and sponsors! Stay tuned!

Weâre less than 24 hours away from the 2nd annual symposium here at CNG! Come hear from our incredible lineup of speakers! UTHealth Houston McGovern Med School

Highlights from the second annual Hans J. MĂŒller-Eberhard symposium yesterday! What a fun day of discussions, laughs, and great science. Thank you to all our invited speakers, including our very own Koichiro Haruwaka !

Check out our most recent work Cell Reports on optogenetic manipulation of microglia in studying pain. Thanks Min-Hee Min Hee Yi for leading efforts even after her independence a while ago! The long term goal is to harness microglial power to treat pain. cell.com/cell-reports/fâŠ
