Less than a month after telling former CM Bonin she would be refusing any law enforcement contributions CD 6 candidate Marisa Alcaraz accepted two contributions from the LA Port Police Association. The contributions also combine to exceed the legal limit of $900.

The wife of everyone's favorite former CM Joe Buscaino donated to Imelda Padilla at the close of the last fundraising deadline. No sign of a donation from Joe.

La Opinión is demanding a public retraction of a mailer supporting Marisa Alcaraz in CD 6 race paid for by Local 770 United Food and Commercial Workers PAC. The mailer says Alcaraz is endorsed by La Opinión. "That endorsement is a false claim," Armando Varela, executive editor.

Happy Earth Day! Thanks to your support. FOUR years after the release of "Earth" we have now donated ALL the proceeds to help combat climate change. That is $1.7 MILLION going to the most amazing nonprofits! I hope you'll show them some love - check them out!

I'm incredibly proud of how transparent our union is. In the Writers Guild of America West's strike announcement, we included a list of our proposals, and the AMPTP's responses. Read it for yourself: it explains in black and white we're forced to go on strike.

“I have pictures of bike racks that are full inside of these high schools, yet there are no bike lanes around the high schools,” Eunisses Hernandez said. More than one high school in her district (CD1) is bordered by busy four-lane streets. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Hey LA: Let’s change the judicial system!💥 Did you know that judicial candidates in LA most often have backgrounds rooted in prosecutorial experience? What if we had more judges who have been public defenders, or who have experienced leveraging alternatives to incarceration? 1/3

I support the Writers Guild of America West Writers Guild of America East and all the writers out there on strike right now. So much of what you see on the big and small screen comes directly from the brains of these writers. They deserve fair compensation!

The Los Angeles Times has done a huge disservice to the people of LA by providing so little context for the scandals that have rocked City Hall over the past several years. All scandals are not created equal--but you’d never know that reading the Times’ headlines. latimes.com/california/sto…
