Stunning illustration of Sobek in crocodile form from "The Book of the Faiyum." Sobek was known as "Lord of the Nile" and the one "who greens the Two Banks." Egyptian, Greco-Roman period, ca. 1st century BCE-2nd century CE. Ink on papyrus,12.5 in. H. Walters Museum (# W.738).
