Someone is polling DC, the topic of which is repealing "tipped wage" policies, aka Initiative 82. The survey is extensive; nearly 50 questions. It includes message testing, Mayor/Council job approval, an RFK stadium question, and detailed demographics.

DC sent 3 violent criminals to a posh youth detention facility in Pennsylvania. They escaped, stole a vehicle, immediately returned to DC, perpetrated a robbery and shot someone. The escapees include a murderer, who was serving a... checks notes... 6-year sentence.

Parents seek to ban starting pistol at DC track meets because it is traumatizing to student athletes. Politicians: But crime is down. Didn't you hear us? We said, crime is down.

Voters evaluated EHN less than a year ago and sent her back to Capitol Hill. As far as I can tell, the Washington Post did not cover her reelection.

Apparently, local DC democracy is immune from dying in the darkness...

It's good to have a mayor who prioritizes public safety.

There are few voices that merit everyone's attention. Colby King is among the rare. I'm glad he'll be writing for a few more months.

But if she shot someone in DC, she'd do less time.

Having been staff/advisor/friend in a similar situation, it is my opinion that the official and staff should focus on, and only speak to, the work at hand until the official has made a firm decision. In the interim, ignore speculation.
