Pupils want to do demanding work We sometimes make things too easy for too many of our pupils in the mistake belief that they can’t cope They can

'So we’ve got these systemic problems, which these diagnoses aren’t going to help. In fact, they may actually draw resources away from tackling problems at the whole-school level.'

At FHS, we have zero tolerance for racism. Today, pupils and teachers wore one red item to show a red card to racism. Special golden tickets have been given to those displaying HEART values this week. Together, we stand united and say NO to racism. #notoracism #schoolwithaheart

This is bang on. Inclusion doesn’t mean lowering standards- and when it does mean that, it’s a mistake, and it’s not authentically inclusive. Children with SEND are not a separate group; they’re children with circumstances that may need adjustments and exceptions, but children

A number of issues with RJ in schools… An assumption that children have the same level of development as an adult A power imbalance between adult & child Victims being pushed into situations they don’t want but feel they have to A hugely time consuming process for staff

I always get told off for this, but you can spend 5 minutes in any school these days and figure out pretty quickly that there are way too many students with special arrangements like toilet passes, extra time, time out passes etc etc

It is hugely worrying that 7-9 minutes of every 30 minutes of lesson time, as reported in national surveys, are lost to poor behaviour. Leadership, behaviour systems/policies, parental power undermining schools, kids not receiving consequences etc have a lot to answer for…

Anyone who works in a secondary school will know that this isn't true. I don't know of a school that could do this even if it wanted to: theguardian.com/education/2025…

Superb scholarly attitude from Year 11 History scholars this afternoon at Astrea Academy Netherwood with a walking talking mock led by Mrs Olsen. It may be the end of half term, but at Astrea we know that Every Minute Matters, & so each moment is carefully crafted to best support scholars.

Carys makes a massive difference every day. She everywhere across the academy, and can often be seen helping scholars get to their lessons quickly. Her knowledge of the children is excellent, and she is now delivering training to help people know the scholars better.

I've led a white working class, coastal, secondary modern, from special measures to outstanding. 1st phase was heavily focussed on culture/behaviour, where uniform is central. Turnaround Heads know how pivotal this is.We provided free uniform items. ⬇️will have an adverse impact

Sensible and experienced school/trust leaders, including those working directly with the very communities and pupils these policies are intended to help, have raised concerns; unfortunately, at this stage, their voices are not being heard.

Overcommunicating is rarely done. Messages become whole school messages over time. You have to be consistent, insistent and persistent, always living the words that you speak.

Tom Bennett OBE (@tombennett71) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If you bring a knife/ axe or similar weapon to school, you should be permanently excluded. Anything less is a horrendous dereliction of the duty of care to the rest of the school community. It also teaches everyone else: bring in a weapon and you will be excluded. Not doing so

Chris Wardle (@chriswardle77) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Uniform is vital. It's the belonging, the uniformity. It says, we're a family. To take the branding away, even it's it is free, is a huge mistake and needs to be addressed. #freeuniformshouldnotcount

Isolation is vital in schools for those that do not meet the standard in classrooms. If isolation data increases or decreases, I'm not too concerned. All I want is teachers to be able to teach.
