I know this is well above normal, feeling more like mid-May than mid-March, but you won't hear me complain! Beautiful, sunny and warm today. Only catch is the winds kick up this afternoon to 20-25 mph gusts. #scwx #ncwx #gawx

It's bad out there right now thanks to smoke being blown south from the Table Rock and other mountain fires. Tomorrow winds switch and lighten, so that will help the smoky skies around I85.

A line of storms moves through the area this afternoon, impacting many in the school pick-up line and the bus stop. Keep in mind, some of these storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds as the main threat. #scwx #ncwx

We are pretty close to record highs today and tomorrow. I think we'll fall just short in the Upstate. However, Asheville likely breaks the old record of 83° this afternoon with a highs of 84°. #scwx

Today kicks off a long stretch of 80s for the Upstate and mid 70s to low 80s in the mountains. Bottom line, we are seeing above normal highs through at least next week. #scwx #ncwx

Isolated to scattered showers and storms are back today. While we don't expect severe weather, there could be some gusty winds below 58 mph and hail smaller than an inch within any storms today. Also watch for heavy downpours and cloud to ground lightning. #scwx #ncwx

Widespread rain and storms expected on and off today. While there will be breaks, the next round of storms won't be too far behind. Severe threat is low but watch for gusty winds, heavy downpours and lightning. #scwx #ncwx

Erin is anticipated to grow in size in the next few days and be a large hurricane off the coast of the Carolinas. It could be as big as 550 miles across which is how long the Blue Ridge Mountains are from Georgia to Pennsylvania.

Mt. Mitchell, NC (6684') received its first snowfall of the year this morning. A nice coating of snow seen on the trees and a fence. Did anyone else get a picture of the high elevation snow? Photo Credit: NC High Peaks Trail Association #ncwx
