Good morning. I expect a topline increase of 125K in the May US Jobs Report and an increase to 4.3% in the unemployment rate. Whisper number is 110K. Economy needs to generate 100K to keep employment conditions stable. Look to see if downward revisions to previous estimates

The unemployment rate held steady because more than 600K people stopped looking for work last month. That pulled down the percentage of Americans with jobs to 59.7%, the lowest since early 2022.

There was a record exodus from the workforce. The # who were employed in Apr but classified as "not in the labor force" in May surged by 917k. Outside of spring 2020, that's a record. Jun data may clear up if it's noise or perhaps some fallout of immigration policy.

Appeals court rules that the president can punish a news outlet based on the content of its coverage by denying it access that it has had for generations. If the decision stands, it represents a major blow to press freedom. Zach Montague Minho Kim nytimes.com/2025/06/06/us/…

1. I'm going to thread out the very odd sequence of events that led Fox News anchor John Robert, theoretically a "straight news" guy, to pretend the early hours of June 7 actually happened a day ago in order to avoid pointing out that Donald Trump was wrong about something.

Asked if he planned to announce any trade agreements at the G7 as he left the White House on Sunday, Trump said: “We have our trade deals. All we have to do is send a letter, ‘This is what you’re going to have to pay.' But I think we'll have a few, few new trade deals."
