In less than 2 months, the science team for GEOTRACES GP17-OCE will mobilize the #RVRogerRevelle! You won't recognize the Revelle's back deck once we've added all the science vans! #nsffunded #thebiggestkahuna 🎥 credit: Scripps Institute of Oceanography at UC San Diego

IMPACT SUCCESS! Watch from #DARTMIssion’s DRACO Camera, as the vending machine-sized spacecraft successfully collides with asteroid Dimorphos, which is the size of a football stadium and poses no threat to Earth.

This is the Bonnet Carré spillway, upriver from New Orleans. See how it impacts ocean acidification on the Mississippi coast in Ally Savoie (she/they) 's new open access paper SOSEUSM (Great work Ally! TAMU Oceanography) doi.org/10.1002/lno.12…

I'm excited to give a talk today University of Rochester . It's currently 7°F and the weather says something about "heavy freezing spray", but that's OK because we get to talk about the tropical Pacific!

City Park Conservancy had the privilege to host students from Université Laval (Quebec) Urban Planning for a presentation on Recovery Planning after a Disaster. Utilizing lessons learned from past storms, CPC is able to educate & learn from the future leaders in the industry. 📚

Dr. Harvey C. Hayes (as it turns out, a distant relation) worked for U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in the 20th century; he had a Mid-Atlantic Ridge fracture zone named after him. Later a tagliabue et al. visited the site. My 1st PhD student, Neil Redmond, made a thesis chapter using it; what a world!

🤧 A hefty plume of Saharan Dust will likely push into Florida by the weekend… This would lead to lower air quality and possible irritation of respiratory conditions. On the bright side, the dust is currently playing a large role in inhibiting tropical activity!
