This #AssistedDyingBill is an awful piece of work, but I can’t really imagine a version that wouldn’t keep me awake at night. I’ve seen too many people who are sick, old, and expensive start to feel - and look - expendable. The law must have their protection as a first priority.

Our social security system should reflect the values of the Gospel: compassion, justice, and dignity. As the Bishop of Lichfield Diocese said, supporting those in need is a moral imperative. We can't let the fear of fraud justify treating the poorest with suspicion.

I don’t want to live in a world where somebody drives a car into a crowd of people who just want to celebrate their football team. And I don’t want to live in a world where the police have to specify that person is white & British to stop hotels & mosques being firebombed.
