On Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom and recommit ourselves to the work that remains undone. We remember that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope for tomorrow’s light.

🙏Michèle Audette I respectfully decline the King Charles III Coronation Medal. As an Indigenous woman, I can’t accept an award tied to the Crown while we fight for truth, justice and healing for the children lost to residential schools. #Decolonize #indigenousRights

Members of Windigo First Nations Council have declared there will be no development in their traditional territories until their “own nation-building objectives” are met. They promise to defend the land “at all costs“ unless the well-being of their members is made a priority.

That was quick — I don’t understand why Canadians don’t recognize the significant influence and authority that First Nations hold. First Nations and the British Crown are foundational to Canada’s creation, united as distinct nations through bonds of peace and friendship.

Being ‘passionate’ doesn’t give you an excuse to express your racism. If and when Doug Ford is ready to personally apologize to the people of Nishnawbe Aski Nation, we will consider it. If the Premier is sincere with his apology, he needs to show it, not just say it.
