At 10:11 am on August 28, 2005, NWS New Orleans broadcasted one of the most chilling warnings ever heard ahead of Hurricane Katrina. “PERSONS EXPOSED TO THE WINDS WILL FACE CERTAIN DEATH” With a 30-foot storm surge, KATRINA would soon alter the U.S. Gulf Coast forever.

20 years since Katrina. Growing up in Dallas, I only heard about New Orleans, but Mississippi was devastated too. After living here, I’ve seen how far those impacts reached. We remember, we prepare, and we never forget. #Katrina #mswx

A great timelapse of the storm system moving into Lubbock taken from inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Texas Tech is currently under a weather delay, as Lubbock remains under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9:45 p.m.

Heads up! We're already seeing some rain early this morning 🌧️. Rain chances are increasing today and tomorrow as a weak front and abundant moisture move in. Expect scattered showers and storms. Things dry out later this week! ⛈️☀️ #mswx WLBT 3 On Your Side

Going to be a hot day for some football, but hey, at least it won't be a rainy game as Millsaps takes on Belhaven in some football around the metro!🏈 #MSwx WLBT 3 On Your Side

As we discussed yesterday, the timing of Saturday’s cold front was key. It now appears that it will arrive earlier in the day, which means highs should remain in the 80s, with scattered storms likely during the morning and early afternoon. Some of these storms could be strong.⛈️

Dry weather continues for the foreseeable future, with today's highs staying in the 80s, perfect for a pleasant Monday! Overall, things are expected to stay quiet this week, so any outdoor plans should be good to go! #mswx WLBT 3 On Your Side
