Never allow an idea to outweigh action.

A good client relationship doesn’t equal security. You must be prepared for a long term client to implode unexpectedly by their own doing. Never get too comfortable. A client’s personal life, partnerships, or performance can have a ripple effect through their supply chain.

I write using my Apple Pencil daily. I was adding something to my office whiteboard and made a mistake: I double-tapped the dry-erase marker with my index finger as if a magical eraser would appear in my hand. Starting 2024 off right!

So many small business owners I know haven't even cracked the seal on AI yet and likely won't for the foreseeable future. Resistance to change is a faux superpower. Not making time for change will bring change upon you regardless. Help others be proactive.

Don't make a client feel uncomfortable. How you communicate matters. If you think they need to move faster on decisions and actions, are unwilling to take risks, etc. Just chill out. Your role isn’t to judge; it’s to guide.

Growing a business is a skill you can learn. I grew up surrounded by fields, and as an only child, I had no idea how my parents made money. I have no formal business education. Now, I've helped grow companies to six and seven figures. Can only win if you play.

Every delay puts you a day further away. Stop daydreaming. Make your idea a reality or a distant memory. Either way, play offense. I talk to many who suffer from a terrible disease: indecision.

Are you overthinking right now? I've experienced some bad things in my life for sure. But 99.999999% of the time, most everyday things are never as bad or insurmountable as they seem initially. It's better to face and move past it as quickly as possible.

"You can do anything, but not everything." by David Allen. This is one of my favorite quotes. Eliminating is so much harder than adding. Use “no” nicely to save you and others from future stress. Don’t let your mouth overwork your back.

Action yields results, not paralysis by analysis. Results from an ad campaign come from running the ad campaign, not overthinking the campaign without launch. The first campaign results may just be data for decision-making and the next steps, not the campaign objective yet.

A one-person business is a job.

Changing direction in your small business is nothing unusual. If your business is always changing directions it’s unusual and likely hurting retention of clients and staff. I’m seeing this unfold in a business i’m a client of and it’s both sad and amazing simultaneously.

Ignorance is not bliss to those impacted by it.

If only I could be paid for every robo call my business receives.
