This week we recognized 52 students from the St. Charles Elementary School who volunteer for pedestrian crossing guard duties during the school year. They brace the elements to protect their fellow students, parents, and school staff. #NationalVolunteerMonth.

We would like to welcome Aly Jumper as our new Student Intern. Aly grew up in the city of Ankeny, Iowa. She will be a Senior this year at Winona State University where she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Spanish.

During yesterday’s award ceremony at the Winona County Fair, the St. Charles Police Department was presented with a donation of three portable Fire Suppression Tools (FSTs) by the Raising Sun Masonic Lodge #49 (St. Charles).

During last Tuesday's Council meeting, Chief Pelaez presented Sgt. Jones with his certificate of training. Sgt. Jones recently completed the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association's Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) & Command Academy earning 29 POST credit hours.

Recently, we were out at our Senior Living Center providing some education and awareness on trending scams, specifically those targeting our senior citizens.

The potential for a regional severe weather outbreak still exists later today. Our area could see severe storms mainly in the evening hours with the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and even some tornadoes.

Scam alert: People in Minnesota are getting fake emails and texts from a phony “Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles (DPSMN).” That agency doesn’t exist. DPS and DVS will never send a text asking for money. Don’t click links. Delete the message.

Elder Abuse Awareness Talk: SCPD will be hosting a presentation on elder abuse prevention this coming Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the St. Charles Senior Center (St. Charles City Hall). See information below. We hope to see you there.
