CEOS exciting news! The Sea-Ice Experimental Research Facility (SERF) is home to UM’s first Solar Panel Installation (8kW DC) that generates power for SERF and feeds excess energy back into the Manitoba Hydro grid. A big thanks to the UM Strategic Initiatives. UMRiddellFaculty

Maeva Gremaud, PhD from Switzerland, is simulating ozone & mercury depletion events at a mesocosm scale at SERF. For this she has 2 acrylic tubes, one blocking the UV & the other not blocking UV, in order to measure the difference in depletion related to sunlight.UMRiddellFaculty

What would happen if there were an oil spill in the Arctic? UM researchers are working to find out so we can be ready. This past winter, a team from the (CEOS UM) completed the first-ever controlled oil spill experiment at the Churchill Marine Observatory (CMO).
