Just 12% of renters in Canada occupy non-market housing, while 38% rent non-purpose-built units from private landlords. The remaining half rent from corporate and financial landlords—all of whom reap enormous profits from their tenants. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

To end homelessness we must reclaim our housing infrastructure from the investor class, produce homes as if they were essential goods rather than investment vehicles, and ensure that everyone has the resources to lead dignified, comfortable lives. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

From one year ago and still painfully relevant: Canada didn't end homelessness, we implemented Housing First and crossed our fingers the affordable stock would be there: canadiandimension.com/articles/view/… co/ Canadian Dimension

NEW: Despite Mark Carney’s lofty claims that our old relationship with the United States is ā€œover,ā€ Canada’s massive planned increases in military spending will only deepen its entanglement with the US war machine, writes Owen Schalk. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

This article is spot on. Consider the 1960s, when popular democratic forces in Canada won Medicare, massive coop housing program, near-universal Unemployment Insurance, Canadian Pension Plan. In USA, the equivalent "Great Society" died as wealth was directed into its Vietnam War.

In the wake of Trump's tariffs, those on the left saw a glimmer of an opportunity. Economic delinking from the American empire might be put on the table. A radical departure from neoliberalism might finally be realized. So far, none of this is happening. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

Trump's use of tariffs is haphazard and destructive, but we should not let that foolishness turn us into evangelists for free trade, or convince us that all forms of tariffs and economic nationalism are inherently bad, writes Eric Wilkinson. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

After a historic Indigenous consultation process, the Xinka people of Guatemala have said NO to Vancouver-based Pan American Silver’s Escobal mine. Canada must respect their decision, not undermine it, writes UBCIC President Grand Chief Stewart Phillip. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

The trade war is an occasion for assessing what kind of industrial policy Canada should pursue. Greater economic nationalism benefitted Canada in the past. Maybe it’s time to chart a new course. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

The West cannot have its cake and eat it. Either it supports Israel, or it supports the rule of law. Israel’s ā€œright to self-defenseā€ does not permit war crimes or genocide, period. NEW from Derek Sayer (derek sayer): canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

NEW: While warmongers worldwide are jubilant at the thought of profiting from the geopolitical upheaval in the Middle East, a spiral of violence would be devastating for the Iranian people and the entire region. Judi Rever canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

The prospect of destroying Iran’s clerical government and installing a Western puppet regime would secure the most important oil transit chokepoint in the world—the Strait of Hormuz—for the US and its allies. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

At this moment of threat and crisis, Carney is quite prepared to ensure that capitalism becomes considerably less ā€œinclusiveā€ in order to weather the storm, writes John Clarke. canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…
