NEW: Beginning Saturday, January 22, DHS will require non-U.S. individuals seeking to enter the U.S, via land ports of entry and ferry terminals at the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canada borders to be fully vaccinated for #COVID19 and provide related proof of vaccination.

These new restrictions will apply to non-U.S. individuals who are traveling for both essential and non-essential reasons.  They will not apply to U.S. citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents, or U.S. nationals.

U.S. Coast Guard rescued 1 Mexican citizen swimming ~1mi offshore near the southern border, Monday. 4 people were sharing 2 life jackets and struggling to stay afloat. 3 individuals refused help & swam back to #Tijuana beach. #CG ensured they made it safely back to shore. #DontTaketotheSea

Due to the fire near Dulzura, CBP closed the Tecate border crossing at 7 pm instead of staying open til the usual 10 pm. Closure will ensure the safety of the traveling public & port personnel. Travelers should use Otay Mesa (open 24 hours) until the port re-opens #border32fire

The Tecate border crossing will not open on Sept 1 at the usual time of 6 am but will remain closed due to the #Border32Fire Travelers northbound and southbound can continue to use the crossing at Otay Mesa. CBP will provide an update when the crossing is able to re-open

Tecate border crossing will remain closed tonight (Sept 1) and not re-open at the usual 6 am tomorrow due to #Border32Fire CBP continues to work with fire officials to wait for conditions for a safe re-opening. Travelers north & south can use Otay Mesa & San Ysidro to cross
